🌟Star Players Gotta Shine🌟 : Stepping with a Purpose & Winning Big at HoCo 2023 🔺🏆

Homecoming is the most wonderful time of the year! Major shoutout to all the HBCU grads reading this and cheers especially to the alums of Xavier University of Louisiana. Over the weekend, I had the distinct pleasure to represent the dazzling Star Player community as a member of the Alumni Old School Step Show.

We had the great fortune of gracing the stage with an elaborate Delta airlines theme and taking home the winning trophy. Our performance also gave flowers to the New Orleans legends of hip hop during the choreographed dances. This marks the second year in a row that the Gamma Alpha chapter of Delta Sigma Theta earned the illustrious championship title.

The way alignment works—I went into this performance with a rich understanding of the historical significance of the art of stepping. I recently attended Drumfolk, a Step Afrika performance and was enlightened on the ways our ancestors used their bodies to build the beat of this nation when their drums were confiscated during slavery.

Paying homage to our foremothers and forefathers during the show felt amazing. I am still reeling in the excitement and even deeper gratitude for carrying the unchanging promises of the motherland via the instruments of my hands and feet!
