🙌🏾 🎁 We Owe It All to Affirmations! Hold on To Happiness in the Holiday Madness 🙌🏾 🎁

Hello, Star Players! We are in the homestretch of 2023 and for so many of us these last few weeks of the year are often the hardest. We are up against deadlines and remembering good times with folks who are no longer here. I resonate deeply with the burnout and emotional roller coaster ride of the season. This note is to remind you that you are not alone and affirmations can play a key role in keeping your joy regardless of the turmoil surrounding you.

Why are affirmations an essential component for holding on to happiness? Affirmations are the tools for building new neural pathways to combat the default negative pathways that were set for many of us during childhood. The negative talk tracks need to be dissolved in order to have a healthy relationship with yourself from the inside out. The road to self acceptance and unconditional self-love begins with affirmations.

Since we began this work, we have encountered many hurdles. Some of which include deep skepticism of affirmation effectiveness, call the “Lucky Girl Syndrome.” This line of thought positions affirmation advocates as a group of delusional toxic positivity proponents who only witness fortune as a byproduct of systemic privileges. I fundamentally disagree with this theory. I do not fall in many privileged categories, granted my position in society as a Black woman who hails from a disadvantaged background.

I’ve been told in a professional setting by leadership at a Fortune 500 company that my “mindset is dangerous—because what if your plans don’t work?” This comment was a direct criticism of my positive disposition in life. Those words cut deep. In the moment, I reminded my oppressor that this mindset has been an essential part of my survival and is what had carried me to unimaginable heights in life. When my plans don’t work, I do what every other adaptable human being does—make new plans.

The holidays are the time of the year where character is tested for so many of us. When the naysayers, doubters and critics rear their unrelenting heads, just remember your why. If you need a reminder of your greatness, the CCC Tiny Book of Affirmations ebook is always available to deliver instant uplift.

I sincerely appreciate the Star Player community of believers and value the contributions of the skeptics. Their opposing discourse keeps CCC anchored and rooted in our “why” and thus cements the legacy of our brand for generations to come.

🧘🏾‍♀️ ☮️ “Serving Words” for the Yoga Mat: Houston DYAD Program Converts CCC Affirmations into Yoga Poses 🧘🏾‍♀️☮️

Yoga Instructor Ms. Hobbs along with classroom consultant Mr. Lajas translate CCC Affirmations into yoga poses

We are beyond thankful that our art can inspire new levels of learning. Recently the Houston Independent School District DYAD program has implemented a new motivational mentorship program that includes the CCC Tiny Book of Affirmations card deck!

This idea was introduced by nation-wide renowned educator, DYAD classroom consultant and public speaking professional, Jonathan Lajas. Mr. Lajas is a devout Star Player who carries our card deck into every one of his professional endeavors. In a spirited collaboration with HSID yoga instructor, Ms. Hobbs, this duo pioneered a new creative lane for our affirmation cards.

For this workshop, students were split into groups and tasked with the challenge of building a bridge between our affirmations and meditative yoga poses. Students chose cards at random and proceeded to put forth their best interpretations—which included airplane pose, camel pose, tree pose and brave warrior pose.

Since this workshop was conducted, Ms. Hobbs has now implemented affirmation card pulls into her student’s daily reflection activity. We are thrilled to learn that our mission of “serving words” extends beyond auditory healing. Thank you so much for the creative genius of the Houston youth! For public speaking, youth empowerment or motivational mentorship needs, feel free to book a consultation with Mr. Lajas via email at [email protected].

HSID Students creative wheels turn as they affirm their greatness with yoga poses.

“Impacting daily routines is hard ground to break; however, not impossible. My challenge now is showcasing the power these affirmations can pack and encouraging readers to get comfortable owning their own narratives with affirmations.”
