The holiday is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, and is a combination of Mexican and Catholic beliefs. The indigenous people of Mexico believed that death was a natural part of life, and that the dead were not gone forever, but simply passed on to another realm.

In honor of this special day and to close out spooky season, we are sharing a piece published last year on Vocal Media entitled, “Queen of the Damned.” This piece is all about releasing the fear of death and embracing her as a means to truly be alive.
