🤩 Star Players Gotta Shine 🤩: Ariel Attends 6th Annual Sistas in Sales Summit as Google Scholarship Recipient

Ariel is giving that Star Player sparkle at the SIS Power 100 Gala

Last month, we got our shine on at the 6th Annual Sistas in Sales Summit, held at Glasshouse NYC. This year's summit was particularly special, as I returned as a Google Scholarship Recipient. Last year, part of my full time role was serving as the SIS Team Google liaison, leading the summit strategy and execution.

As most of you know, I was part of the Q1 tech layoffs and am no longer at Google. However, pathways and provisions still made a way! I learned, laughed, and listened so much during this year's summit. I was honored to help the session emcee fill intermission with an affirmation card pull during the Google Leadership Summit. These memories I will cherish as I continue to network and carve the next career path forward.

It was amazing to see old colleagues and make new connections with other leaders in the DEI and sales space. I am especially grateful to SIS for gifting us with the debut memoir "Thicker than Water" by Kerry Washington. Kudos to Google, for making this experience possible!

Closing the Digital Divide: Can AI Give Us Easier Access to New Realities?

Are we asking AI the right questions?

More and more conversations surrounding AI are surfacing these days. Should we be afraid of it? Should we embrace it as a tool to augment our daily lives? Does AI know more about us than we know about ourselves? There are more questions than answers.

Earlier this year, I sat in on a Penn State Alumni virtual speaker series led by Professor Matt Jordan that addressed many of the aforementioned inquiries. Professor Jordan is playing an important role via HumIn Focus in assessing AI’s role in our everyday lives.

Full Circle Moment: I had the pleasure of serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Professor Jordan’s TV & Film course during my time as a M.A. student at Penn State from 2012-2014. It was at this time that I contributed to award winning industry research focused on social networking, human computer interactions and need fulfillment.

I believe that there is untapped potential with AI to bridge the digital divide between underrepresented communities and the sea of opportunities they seek. Check out my reflections from this lecture published on LinkedIn. Connect and comment your responses- let’s keep the dialogue going!
