✍🏾 🔮 What Have You Written Lately? September Edition ✍🏾 🔮 

Hello, Star Players!

You may not know this but, my motivation to keep my pen sharp as a creative writer comes from a line in one of my all time favorite films, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” There is a scene where Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) climbs into the apartment window of her neighbor Paul Varjak aka Fred (George Peppard) in the middle of the night. While there, she questions Paul on whether he’s “a real writer” or not.

The film is set in the year 1961 and during this late night visit, Holly probes her neighbor to understand his writing schedule and what he’s published. Paul shared that his last publication was from 1956. Holly, in shock responds,“this may be a ratty question, but what have you written lately?” This four minute scene is my accountability partner to consistently publish pieces.

For the month of September, here are the three pieces I’ve written lately, what inspired them and where you can read them. As always, thank you for taking the time to read and I welcome your spirited comments and reactions!

1. “I am centered, whole and healed.”

This is the monthly blog post published on my website and on LinkedIn- the title and entire piece is inspired by this card pick from CCC Tiny Book of Affirmations.

2. “The Art of Leaving Quietly”

This piece was inspired by a 3am spiritual download that woke me up out of my sleep to jot down in my notes app. I hope it reaches someone who needs the strength to remove themselves from a situation that doesn’t serve them and to do so quietly.

3. “Free Us and the World Evolves”

This was inspired by a series of writing I began two years ago, called “Take Heed from Hummingbirds.” It is an inspirational piece about the possibilities of letting Black people rise to be the natural leaders of this world we were always meant to be.
